Spin Recovery

Beginner pilots are taught to avoid a stall, which can then lead to a spin.  This is a dangerous and disorienting experience and should be avoided if at all possible.  Fortunately, there is a recommended procedure for spin recovery.  The following procedure is recommended for a Cessna 172 aircraft.
The memory aid is PARE:
  1. POWER to idle
  2. AILERONS neutral
  3. RUDDER on the floor opposite the direction of spin
  4. ELEVATOR nose-down to break the stall
You will want to read the full explanation in the Pilots Operating Handbook or POH for an understanding of the steps and why you need to take them. Commit the sequence above to memory and better yet get spin training from a qualified instructor.  Credit: Aviation Stack Exchange.
